I'm getting this set: http://www.sheaffer.com/calligraphy/maxikit/
But can I use the set for normal writing, like in class taking notes or something, because aren't fountain pens a very slow writing pen? And also, the set uses Skrip ink cartridges. Is that ink available anywhere in Melbourne, Australia, because I might need to refill the ink...
I used a fountain pen with a calligraphy nib for many years as my normal writing pen, but I wouldn't recommend it for note-taking. Do use it for other writing activities, though. I don't know about the ink, though, as I'm in the UK. My current Parker pen (not calligraphy) takes both Parker and 'generic' ink cartridges.
you can use it but i find it harderto write in
strip ink catridges you are able to buy themfrom office work or news agencies
